I am Thushan, and I live in a small village in Sri Lanka, with my sister, aunt, and cousins. We have a small home that belongs to my grandparents, which lacks proper facilities. My father passed away and my mother abandoned me. I was able to find my aunt and she took me in and assumed responsibility for my care. My mother’s neglect extended to my sister and me, depriving us of the nurturing we needed. I suffered from malnutrition due to poor care from birth, leading to stunted growth and the need for a medical operation, which I am currently preparing for. Our aunt, who is already struggling to support her own family, has taken us in with love and duty. Despite her efforts, the burden is heavy. I missed a year of school due to these circumstances. With the help of the Child Rights Officers, I was re-enrolled in school. I aspire to become a doctor to help others, driven by my own experiences.
