Sumri lives in Sri Lanka. He is 6 years old and is in 1st grade. When he was a year old, his mother went abroad to look for work in the Middle East. Sumri went to live with his grandparents. His father eventually left the family and married another woman. After two years, Sumri’s mother returned home, but didn’t care for him and remarried, leaving him with his grandmother, who has 3 children. Her husband is a fisherman but can no longer go out to sea, so he earns little income selling food. Sumri’s grandmother finds it difficult to care for the family with such a small income. They live in a house donated by the government, but struggles to educate, feed and provide other needs. Sumri attends school regularly, but misses having parents who love and care for him. Your sponsorship will give him a chance at a bright future.
