My name is Akash and I am 8 years old. I'm living with my grandmother, my mom and my older brother in a small village in Sri Lanka. Our house is a small brick house with two rooms, a kitchen and a hall. We have electricity, water and a bathroom. My mother is 44 years old. She raises poultry and sells string hoppers (rice noodles) to people in the neighborhood. This is her only income she has to provide for us. My father was a Samurdhy Officer. In 2013, he had an accident on the way home from a meeting and died on the spot. After that, my mother was very sad and depressed. She couldn’t focus or care for us, so my grandmother took care of me and my brother. It has been seven years since my father died, and my mother is gradually getting better. But she still starts crying when we talk about our father. My mother struggles to provide for us because she only makes a little from her poultry and food she sells. Currently, I am in 3rd grade. I am very active and I like to make new friends. I like to play with my friends during my free time. I want to be an Engineer when I grow up because I would like to build new buildings. Your sponsorship will help my mother to care from me so that I can have a better future. Thank you for reading my story and for caring about me!
